The Legendary Georgian National Ballet “Sukhishvili”

For more than 80 years, it has embodied artistry, strength of spirit, and boundless energy. The First and Original Georgian National Dance Ensemble has become a symbol of authentic Georgian culture, unparalleled anywhere in the world.

The Georgian National Ballet “Sukhishvili” was founded in 1945 by Iliko and Nino Sukhishvili. Today, the company is led by the third generation of the family—the founders’ grandchildren. This dynasty has preserved and developed the traditions, making “Sukhishvili” a symbol of Georgian art and cultural heritage.

A unique program awaits audiences in the U.S., Germany, Poland, the Czech Republic, the Netherlands, Sweden, Lithuania, Latvia, and other countries. It features the best performances in the company’s entire history—the embodiment of perfection and the highest artistry, which have become Georgia’s calling card on the world stage.

For eight decades, “Sukhishvili” has captured the hearts of millions of viewers and performed on the world’s most prestigious stages: from the Metropolitan Opera in New York to La Scala in Milan. The world has called them many things: “the eighth wonder of the world” (The New York Times), “a hurricane on stage” (The Daily Telegraph), “an energy capable of lifting an entire audience to their feet” (Le Figaro). Yet all these descriptions share one thing in common: “Sukhishvili” is a phenomenon without parallel in the world. A fantastic spectacle full of energy and beauty.

The concert program is a true explosion of emotions. Virtuoso male dances featuring acrobatics, leaps, and twirling sabers bring the audience to a state of quiet rapture, while the female dancers enchant with their grace and nobility. The ensemble’s signature remains the unique male dance on pointe—a hallmark of “Sukhishvili” that is unmatched by other artists.

In addition to the dance spectacle, audiences can look forward to a true visual feast: costumes made of natural fabrics, adorned with silk embroidery, gemstones, and metal elements. The ensemble’s live orchestra creates a unique soundscape using rare traditional instruments and ancient playing techniques that have been carefully passed down from generation to generation.

Eighty years of history mean the recognition of millions of fans, tens of thousands of concerts, more than a hundred countries on five continents, and performances on stages where only the very best are applauded. The “Sukhishvili” Ballet has forever etched its name into the history of world culture.

“Sukhishvili” is more than just a concert. It is a celebration where history, pride, and incredible vitality come together—a vitality that the audience carries away in their hearts.
