“Van Gogh” — a dance performance in which painting transforms into movement.

“Van Gogh” is a contemporary dance performance created by European choreographer Viktor Davydiuk. The production blends classical ballet, contemporary dance, and multimedia technology to create a visually striking and emotionally powerful stage work. The project has already been performed throughout Europe and North America, confirming its international success, and in March the performance will be presented in the Czech Republic.

The performance is not based on Vincent van Gogh’s biography, but on his inner world. Through movement, music, and light, the artist’s loneliness, emotional crises, tension, and obsession with his work are revealed, with the production working with feelings rather than facts and transforming the artist’s experiences into a powerful theatrical experience.

The choreography combines neoclassical ballet, contemporary dance, and elements of physical theater. The movement language is built on contrasts ranging from gentle lyricism to sharp, almost nervous movements reflecting the main character’s inner state.

The visual aspect of the performance plays a significant role, featuring multimedia projections inspired by Van Gogh’s paintings, a dynamic lighting design, and a set design that creates the effect of paintings coming to life. The audience thus finds itself in a space where painting transforms into movement and the stage becomes an extension of the artistic world.

The musical score reinforces the dramaturgy and creates an atmosphere of tension and emotional depth that permeates the entire performance.

The project is being developed as an international production aimed at a broad audience and designed for both touring and festival contexts.
